Hi all: The other day I ran into a problem where users sending out email with attachments of around 12 MB were getting the email bounced back. At first I thought it was our GWIA causing the problem, but it turns out our ISP has an attachment limit on their relay host. If I stop using the relay host our attachment problem disappears.

I use a relay host at the ISP so as to restrict outgoing SMTP traffic to that one specific IP address which I trust. My question is: Is there still a valid reason (or was there ever) to use a relay host?

System Info:
GW2012 running on an OES11 SP1 server
Firewall is BM 3.9 (yes, I know)
