    GW2014 on SLES11 SP2 or OES11 SP1

Because of Symantec Backup Exec we cannot update our server to SLES11 SP3 or OES11 SP2.
But we'd like to update GroupWise from 2012 to 2014. In System requirements I can read "plus the latest Service Pack".

Das anyone installed GW2014 on old SP level?

    Hi,

I very successfully updated my GroupWise 2012 system to GroupWise 2014 running on OES11 SP1 - and it's been running fine ever since.

    Hope that helps.

As Laura pointed out, it should work with older OES/SLES, but if you
run into a problem one of the first things that support would ask you
to do is update to the latest OES/SLES service pack.

Quite honestly, until the last couple of weeks of testing, all GW 2014 testing
was done on SLES11SP2/OES11SP1. That is considered a rock solid SP for
GroupWise, and I wouldn't worry about it at all.

There is another way to use the latest OES11 Sp2, but you need and additional product and a second server. I use GWAVA reload to backup the Groupwise 2014 to a OES11 SP1 server. I can then backup the reload backups from the OES11SP1 server (which is supported). Going this way gives you a very quick recovery method for the emails if bad thing happen without using Backup exec with the additional security of tape backup. I use KVM to host the vms, and have had no problems in this direction.

    Thank you all for replies.
Just want to give feedback. I upgraded GW2012 to 2014 on two server (OES11 SP1) and it works without problems.

FWIW, if you download the new BE 2012 SP4 distribution and use the included RALUS agent, it seems to work fine on OES 11 SP3. That is to say, it doesn't explode. So you may be able to have your cake and patch it too.

Of course I'm not sure which thing you don't want official support for.

    I think (hope!) you mean OES11 _SP2_ (on SLES11 _SP3_).
