Hi,

After reading the ZENworks 11.3 database management reference I got some questions:

I have 2 primary servers (ZENworks appliance running 11.3.1) which connect to a separate SLES11SP3 server (DB) with runs Sybase.

I want to save the database on an external storage device connected to the SLES11SP3 server (DB) with an NFS connection.

I am going to use the following SQL statement:
CREATE EVENT ZENDBbackup
SCHEDULE
54
ZENworks 11 SP3 Database Management Reference
START TIME '1:00 AM' EVERY 24 HOURS
HANDLER
BEGIN
DECLARE backupDir varchar(256);
DECLARE backup_stmt varchar(512);
SET backupDir = DAYNAME(now());
SET backup_stmt = 'BACKUP DATABASE DIRECTORY '|| '''/root/
zenworks_dbbackup//' || backupDir || ''''|| ' TRANSACTION LOG TRUNCATE';
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE backup_stmt;
END;

As I can see it creates a backup every day in a folder.
What does it do after 7 days does it overwrites the old backups?

If you use the sql statement to plan the backup , then the zenworks services don't need to be stopped? The documentation states if you do an imediate backup you need to stop the serverices. Why not if you plan it with an sql statement like above?

Last thing, why isn't the Audit datbase backuped up?

Thanks in advance,

Joeri
