FYI - When upgrading to Filr 1.1 we ran into two issues with the LDAP against eDirectory.
After upgrading one is told to let the LDAP Sync run - we did as told but the sync did not finish (even after a long time and the sync results did not get updated much).

It took some log file diving and iMonitor searching to figure out the issues, so we want to share it here for others that might run into the same problems:

1) Groups with same GUID.
The LDAP Sync results in Filr showed two groups with the same name (recently "moved" an OU in our tree) again and again as 'modified'.
When we looked at the objects in eDir we saw that these two groups had the same GUID.
-> deleted one and we got further.

2) Groups with same CN as a User
The logfile /var/opt/novell/tomcat-filr/logs/appserver.log showed errors like:
2014-10-18 16:08:39,977 ERROR [http-apr-8443-exec-7] [org.kablink.teaming.module.ldap.impl.LdapModuleImp l] - 'admin':'cn=admin,ou=Tomcat-Roles,ou=xxx,ou=xxx,o=ls'
2014-10-18 16:08:39,987 ERROR [http-apr-8443-exec-7] [org.kablink.teaming.module.ldap.impl.LdapModuleImp l] - Error adding group

I guess in many eDirectories there are still some tomcat-roles folder and you certainly have an 'admin' user. These errors (and some from other groups with same CN as users) showed up every few minutes in the log while the LDAP Sync kept on spinning.
We renamed the 'real' groups and added "(!(ou:dn:=Tomcat-Roles))" to our LDAP filter for groups. The filter enhancement excludes all groups where "tomcat-roles" is in the DN. As we didn't know a way to stop ldap, we rebooted the Filr appliance and restarted the LDAP sync. Without the CN collisions, the LDAP sync now finished within reasonable time.

We filed bugreports to Novell regarding these two issues.

Happy Filr-ing
