We name our workstations using the following method, w01234, w01235 etc.
Recently we have removed a few workstations that were running xp and installed windows 7 and redeployed them.
When the xp workstations were removed from the network they were marked as retired in zcm.
Once windows7 was installed the workstations were assigned the same name but with an R added to indicate a rebuilt workstation .
I.e w01234R.
The problem I have is when the workstation is reconnected to the network it shows up in the zcm under the old alias, which is marked as retired.
The hostname is new but the alias still the old one, which becomes a problem, when connecting via remote management or when collecting inventory details as the connections fail.
Is there a way to set how the alias behaves?
