Ive found another issue in Designer 4.0.2 AU4a (running on Windows 7):

Our companys long name includes an ampersend "&"

We started to use this long name in the field vendor name in our
Designer Packages, which we publish to our internal, restricted update
site. After that some of our new/updated packages did not show up when
running "Check for Package Updates" in Designer.

No error, no warning, no information. After a while, i found this for
each missing package in the ".log" file in the Designer Workspace:

!ENTRY org.eclipse.update.core 4 0 2014-01-21 16:04:27.960
!MESSAGE Error creating feature
[The entity name must immediately follow the '&' in the entity
org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: The entity name must immediately follow
the '&' in the entity reference.
org.apache.xerces.util.ErrorHandlerWrapper.createS AXParseException(Unknown
at org.apache.xerces.util.ErrorHandlerWrapper.fatalEr ror(Unknown

We tried a lot of things and finally found out, that the ampersand in
the vendor name field of the packages causes the problem. As soon as we
remove/replace it in a Package and build/publish again, the Package
shows up when running "Check for Package Updates"...

I dont know what other characters cause problems, but at least the "&"
should be escaped when bulding the package. Ive opened a SR on this.

Does anyone else have troubles with "Check for Package Updates"?
