I think you set this up backwards, but even then I do not think that it
will work. You need to give rights to access members of groupB so you
would need to go view the list of trustees of groupB. Having access to
the group object probably only means that the groupA object now has
rights to access the groupB object, but that's not going to give rights
to groupB members to anybody, and certainly won't give groupA members
rights to groupB members.

Yes, using IDM would be easy to have this handled properly, though even
then I think you'll be using it to give rights directly from members of
groupA to members of groupB.
