I have a client where certain of the Approver's managers are too high up
and too busy to take over the work of their subordinates if they don't
do it. As a result, when the Approver of the workflow has not approved
it within a specified time the Escalation needs to be an email
notification not a task escalation. The escalation as described in the
manual is a task escalation.

I would like some input on a way to escalate the fact that the approver
has not approved the task to their line manager without assigning the
task to their line manager.

(The reminders to the approver are working fine.)

Has anybody hit this problem before? Is what I am asking possible?
