We have set up a particular protected resource -- an in-house web
application (Java) that is served up by an Apache/Tomcat (linux) server
combo -- that is producing some undesirable results.

If the web application is accessed by hitting the Tomcat server
directly, requests complete immediately.
If the web application is accessed by the Apache box that uses mod proxy
ajp for load balancing, requests complete immediately.
If the web application is accessed via the AM-fronted URL, the requests
take upwards of 20-30 seconds to complete, but they do complete
successfully.

Has anyone run into this situation before, and are there any sort of
settings that I am missing in the documentation that may be adding the
extra processing time?

Thank you!
