I know this might sound like a simplistic question, but I would like to
attempt to expand my own knowledge of eDirectory, and troubleshooting a
"dead" ndsd process.

My customer has an eDirectory server

Binary Version : 20608.00
Product Version : eDirectory for Linux x86_64 v8.8 SP6 [DS], which I
take to mean eDirectory 8.8.6 (8.8 service pack 6)

They told me that the eDirectory appeared to be "dead" on the server
since 06:30 AM. I would like to start troubleshooting the server, I know
that /var/log/messages will have the bulk of the logs but I also thought
about checking /var/opt/novell/eDirectory/log for additional

I have to ask, what should be the first thing that I'm looking for that
might help, one : explain why the server went down at 6:30, and two what
might be the steps needed to ensure that this does not occur again?
