Using Console1 on the server with the master replica,
linux-gwsrv.GW.TECH (SLES 11 SP3) trying to authenticate to the server
with the r/w replica, SERVERNW.TECH (NW 6.5 sp5), I get the following
error:

-error -634 The target server does not have a copy of what the source
server is requesting, or the source server has no objects that match the
request and has no referrals on which to search for the object. -
I looked up this error code in the Novell documentation and found some
possible causes, which I reviewed. I have confirmed the replica rings
ARE consistent, (checked that from the master replica server using
ndsrepair -P -Ad and choosing option 10; also verified they are in sync
time wise). There are only 2 items in the ring, a master replica and a
r/w replica.) I know that dsrepair was run back at the end of February
from the server with the r/w replica (mistake) and this I believe is
what is causing the problem. The log is below. We use DNS and hosts
files, not SLP as the environment is pretty small as you can see. Also,
if in C1 I change the tree to the IP address of the r/w replica server,
I am able then to authenticate to it.

Wondering how to fix this?

Repairing Server Network Addresses
Start: Wednesday, February 25, 2015 7:48:11 pm Local Time
************************************************** **************
This operation will search IPX, SLP, and DNS tables, if
available, in order to validate network address attributes of
NCP_SERVERS, as well as the referrals on replica objects.
If the information on DNS/DHCP tables or the /etc/hosts file is
incorrect, then we cannot guarantee proper validation of network
addresses, nor replica referral updates. This is particularly true
if the system uses unregistered DHCP addresses or the information
in the HOSTS file is incorrect or outdated
