My guess is that your application is not happy with the SSL certificate
since you're using port 636 which is LDAPS. Knowing what, exactly, the
"exception" to which you referred to actually shows would be useful.
Sometimes you can help this by putting 'ldaps://' before the IP address
or DNS portion of the host, but even if you do make that change you may
need to get the application to trust the SSL certificate used by the
LDAPS service.
