Have you verified the connection can be established both directions on
the port used for communication (TCP 29120 by default I believe)? A
ping is not a good test for anything other than basic layer three
connectivity, and even then not so great for that since ICMP can
trivially be blocked on its own. The SSL error makes me think your box
may not be reigstered properly... have you tried re-registering it?
