We have Windows 7 -workstations that connect to CIFS share on OES2 -server (SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP4 -server). Users are reporting problems with file locks. E.g. if user has a Power Point file open and takes laptop off the docking station (from LAN to WLAN) the file gets locked and the user cant save the file for about 10 minutes. Same connection change with Windows 2008 R2 -file server (DFS) works without any problems or error messages.

I checked the CIFS setting with iManager and noticed that the OpLocks is not enabled. In documentations it's recommended to enable this.
My thinking is that this enabling Opportunistic Locking could help with the situation.

Does anybody know any special requirements or possible problems with enabling OpLocks?

Thanks for you input in advance!
