Hi,

since 2014 R2 we had a damaged secondary domain (MTA + GWIA for IMAP/POP3)
database two times within a few days. It was not possible to repair/rebuild
the database.

gwia:~ # gwadminutil validate <path-to-database>
Error (C04F): Block checksum error

gwia:~ # gwadminutil recover <path-to-database>
Error (C04F): Block checksum error

gwia:~ # gwadminutil rebuild -d <path-to-database> -o /<path-to-database> -n
dom-gwia
Error: javax.naming.ServiceUnavailableException: Failed trying to open the
domain.

gwia:~ # gwadminutil rebuild -d <path-to-database> -o dom-gwia.tmp/ -n dom-
gwia
Error: javax.naming.ServiceUnavailableException: Failed trying to open the
domain.

I had to restore an old version of the database an then do a rebuild.

My first question: Apparently a rebuild needs a working target database?
Does not make much sense for me - does it?

Second question: Any idea what the reason for that repeatedly damaged
database might be?

Thanks,
Mirko
