Needless to say I KNOW I should be moving on to something else, but have one homegrown app that would take years to re-write and I need to to stay running on this server. The server is a Dell Poweredge 4400, with NW 6.0. One of the mirrored drives keeps dropping. For a long time I could unplug and replug it in and it would sync back up, now it won't. Rebooting it used to get it to recognize the drive, now it won't. I have replaced the drive with a new one and it doesn't detect it. I have an identical server sitting there unused. My thinking is that the slot on the backplane has gone out, all the rest of the server seems to function correctly. Is it possible to swap that backplane out with the one from the server that is identical? I know enough about SCSI to think that it may make the whole server non-bootable... What is the best way to try to handle this? Thank you in advance...
