I'm having troubles trying to upgrade an eDirectory Server, from version
8.8.8.SP8 Hotfix 2 to eDirectory 9.0.1 in Windows.

I've chosen the method "Migrating to eDirectory 9.0 While Upgrading the
Operating System" as its outlined in the Installation Guide.

First, I upgraded the OS, from Windows Server 2008 SP2 to Windows Server
2012 R2. After that, I tested edirectory and it worked fine.

Second, I had to set the environment variable NDSD_IGNORE_IDM_CHECK=true
in order to start the installation program (otherwise, it doesn't

Then, after rebooting (required for NICI's upgrade) and completing some
options in the wizard, the installation started.
When the progress bar reached 100%, a popup came up saying "A fatal
error has occurred. The program will terminate. You may check c:\Program
Files\Common Files\Novell\ni\data\ni.log for more details after you
dismiss this dialog. The eDirectory installation has terminated

The error logged in ni.log said:
"util.CopyEngine Informational: CopyEngine.copy:Error opening output
stream: path file:/C:\Windows\system32\Novell\eDir\OpenSLP, file

You can see the full ni.log in the 1st reply:

I also got a Windows Error: "NetIQ eDirectory Host Environment has
stopped working"
-Problem signature:

Of course, after these errors, eDir won't start.

Does anyone have an idea about how can I perform this upgrade?

Any help/suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
