Hi everyone,

We're using Zenworks 11.4 in our college environment and we have over 7,000 devices with approx 35,000 accounts being used over 17 sites. We do have just over 1,000 bundles of various amount of software. Before the application launcher comes up, there is a huge amount of disk IO, mainly with the cache being written to within C:\Program Files (x86)\Novell\ZENworks\cache.

I understand why the cache is there. But at the moment, it is looking like a substantial investment of SSD disks to get around the problem of very long login times. We use mandatory profiles so that data isn't saved to C drives after students and tutors login.

Does anyone have any top tips on how to tweak the performance of the cache - or reduce the amount of writing down to the disk to speed up the login in times? The C drive because IO bound with 100% utilisation for 3 or 4 minutes.

All help and advice appreciated.

many thanks

Scott
