Hello dear community!

I'm facing an issue which - at least as far as I have found out - must be slp-related.

Setup: Novell OES2015 (clean out-of-the-box install), clients Windows 7, NovellClient2SP4.

Symptoms:

Clients cannot perform a Novell login normally. The client cannot find a server, and thus no tree nor a context. It does work when I manually enter the server's (only eDirectory server on network) IP-address.

The output of slpinfo /a on any given client reads as follows:

Translation of the error message:

eDirectory trees respectively NCP server could not be resolved. Error ....

schulnetz.schule.local is the FQDN of my eDirectory tree.

What puzzles me are two things:

1) Why does the DA reseolve to the eDirectory tree and not the server on which that eDirectory tree is installed?

The server's FQDN would be S00.schule.local, the ip address of 172.26.1.2 is correct.

2) If the client finds a DA, which even is the FQDN of the eDirectory tree, then why can't it resolve any eDirectory trees?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, it doesn't have to be a complete solution, a few hints on into which log files I should look would be great.

Thanks a lot!

Peter
