Our IT department is essentially AWOL where Vibe is concerned. Previously working Vibe interface but now I cannot use “edit this file” to edit files and save them to the server. When I try I get multiple (3) requests to verify credentials. Do that three times and I get these error messages:

Could not open "https://bees.energy.ca.gov/dave/8ab8b86c058306e410158453766b70034/filename."

Microsoft Excel cannot access the file "https://bees.energy.ca.gov/dave/8ab8b86c058306e410158453766b70034/filename." There are several possible reasons:
  • The file name or path does not exist.
  • The file is being used by another program.
  • The workbook you are trying to save has the same name as a currently open workbook.

This happens for all files but the error changes for Word files. However, while I cannot edit files I can download files. I’ve tested it with newly uploaded files and I get the same issue.

Additional Information: I used to be prompted to enable Java when I tried to “Edit this File.” That Java window no longer opens. I’ve already used the Java Console to create an exception to allow Java to run, I’ve added everything I could think of the exceptions list with no change.

If you can give me an idea of what is going on I can let IT know. Right now IT is claiming this is a Novell problem and I will probably need to direct them to the solution. Thanks.
