We currently use HP Data Protector to backup our NSS files systems. We like HP Data Protector because if we need to recover specific data, Data Protector restores the data and all the file/folder property rights assigned in eDirectory that may be applied specific to Groups and/or Users.

This is important because if various users have been given explicit property rights to a file or folder and the folder is deleted for some reason, the explicit rights that are assigned to those users are automatically in edirectory also. When Data Protector restores that data, the explicit property rights for those users gets updated in edirectory again.

Typically do the backup applications store the NSS file system Directory Entry Table information with the back job which then allows a restore operation to put the assigned property rights back correctly?
