This is an odd one, which I eventually solved, but posting it here for
posterity.


Environment: Windows 2012 R2 Standard x64
Installed: idm45scriptingpatch2

The installer configured scripting driver as a service to run as Local
System.

The service appeared to start (according to services MMC) but no log
files were generated no matter what trace level I used. Was almost like
it couldn't read own config file.


Removed and reinstalled the service (as per doc). Did not help

After lots of dead ends, the solution was this:

Change the service's ImagePath from:

C:\Program Files\Novell\WSDriver\bin\wsdriver.exe -service

to

%ProgramFiles%\Novell\WSDriver\bin\wsdriver.exe -service

These should behave identically, but in this case it made a huge
difference.

Had to do the same with the ImagePath for the Script Service also
