hi all,

i have an issue which i don't really know how to approach. more and more mail servers check the domains mx records to fight spam. the problem is that you send a mail out gwia which has the mx1 host a record. the receiving mail server now checks the domains mx records and finds 2 entries. mx1 and mx2. and sends a request to mx2 which can never succeed.

you get something like this

Code:
4:21:24 C849 MSG 351373 Command: mailserver.com
14:21:24 C849 MSG 351373 Response: 220 mailserver.com ESMTP
14:21:24 C849 MSG 351373 Command: EHLO mx1.domain.com
14:21:24 C849 MSG 351373 Response: 250 ok
14:21:24 C849 MSG 351373 Command: MAIL FROM:<myself>
14:21:24 C849 MSG 351373 Response: 250 2.1.0 Ok
14:21:24 C849 MSG 351373 Detected error on SMTP command
14:21:24 C849 MSG 351373 Command: RCPT TO:<otherself>
14:21:24 C849 MSG 351373 Response: 450 4.1.7 <myself>: Sender address rejected: unverified address: host mx2.domain.com said: 450 4
14:21:24 C849 MSG 351373 Command: DATA
14:21:24 C849 MSG 351373 Response: 221 2.0.0 Bye
14:21:24 C849 MSG 351373 Detected error on SMTP command
would a second gwia actually resolve this issue. i kind of doubt that. another way would be to delete the second mx record which had been setup for failover.

thx for ideas
