In General, it is expected touchpad would work in most cases.
Not sure I can suggest anything to make it work off the top of my head.

If this is not an urgent issue, I would recommend waiting until Update 2 is released Very Early next year.
The PBA will have some Linux Kernel Updates that may resolve the issue.

If it does not, then open an SR and development could take a look......
It is highly unlikely any new issues reported at this point would make it into 2017 Update 2, as they are in final testing.
Only the most critical of new defects would possibly be added or the smallest or zero risk fixes.
